Editing and Proofreading

Available for documents or web content of up to 9,000 words (roughly 30 double spaced pages). For larger works, please contact us for a quote.

Even the best writers have difficulty editing and proofreading their own work, but it is an extremely important step in the writing process. Having a professional editor make a detailed review of your work means that a fresh, objective eye will be examining your writing. This is difficult for you, the author, to achieve with your own work, because the mind can miss errors when you already “know what you’re trying to say.”

Prices are per page, with a page defined as 300 words. (Note: depending on font size, a typical page of double-spaced text contains 250-300 words.) We recommend you use your word processor’s word count tool before ordering services, but we can quote your price if you submit your written work before purchasing services.

The charts below show price per page, depending on your requested timeframe. For projects larger than those listed below, please contact us for a timeframe.

We offer two levels of services for documents that are essentially complete, but ready for that final polish:

Proofreading

If you simply wish to ensure that your document it is error-free, proofreading is the appropriate service. When you purchase proofreading services, your document will be checked for errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and basic sentence structure. Your document will be returned to you with recommended corrections clearly marked in red.

If you also need to help with clarity, organization, and style, then editing is the appropriate service.  When you purchase editing services, your document will be edited in order to convey your ideas clearly and in the appropriate manner, as well as proofread as described above.  Your document will be returned to you with any changes marked in red, along with any necessary explanations and recommendations.
